As chief academic and administrative officer of the School of Arts & Sciences, has complete line responsibility for personnel, general administration and management, budget, academic and development functions. Oversee faculty appointments, reappointment, tenure and promotion processes. Responsible for undergraduate education, including undergraduate admissions and financial aid policies, and in partnership with the Dean of GSAS, has administrative responsibilities for graduate education and research functions.   Manage budget of ~$115 million for faculty, staff and student salaries, operating expenses, direct grant spending, and some capital costs.


Rutgers University (1995-2018)

Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, School of Graduate Studies, 2016-2018

Oversee, strengthen, and assess the academic excellence of more than 150 research-based doctoral, master’s and dual degree programs; monitor and ensure the academic success of over 5,200 graduate students working with 2,660 graduate faculty across eight schools. Develop, implement and enforce academic standards and policies; manage graduate curriculum and graduate faculty appointments; promote diversity and inclusive excellence; oversee student appeals and academic integrity cases; coordinate faculty Area Committees for Humanities, Social Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Physical, Mathematical Sciences and Engineering; address academic complaints, questions, and concerns from students, faculty members and graduate directors; manage commitments to international exchange programs and international students; create proposals and programs to prepare doctoral students, especially those in humanities and humanistic social sciences, for diverse career pathways; represent the Graduate School at meetings of the Council of Graduate Schools, the Big Ten Academic Alliance, and the Northeast Association of Graduate Schools.

Graduate Program Director, Department of Anthropology, Rutgers University, 2014-2016

Supervised policies and procedures for graduate program comprised of 40 graduate faculty and 50-60 graduate students including teaching, recruitment, admissions, financial support, orientation, mentoring, curriculum design, assessment of progress, placement, fellowship and grant applications, nominations for awards and honors, training of teaching assistants, and professional development.  Managed annual budget of ~ $500,000 to support graduate fellowships, research awards, operating expenses, and programming.

Led four-field department of 20 full-time faculty members, 10 visiting instructors, 3 staff members, 60-70 graduate students and 200 undergraduate majors. Managed annual budget of ~ $2.5 million for faculty and staff salaries, operating expenses, and programming.
